About Me — Overview
Hello, I’m Hayley and I’m a fully qualified and experienced UK-based private secondary English teacher and tutor (BA English/ PGCE) and copyeditor. I work online and in-person in the Essex/London area, with my students ranging from KS3 to adult learners. I look forward to hearing how I can help you to confidently progress on your academic journey.

There is nothing more important than a great education and sometimes we all need a little help to reach our personal best!
I know I’m biased, but for me English is the best subject in the world – giving us valuable skills for life and insights in to what it means to be human. The art of telling stories is a fundamental one, and a carefully crafted page of words is the most powerful form of self expression we have!
I have been working as a specialist English tutor for almost nine years, having previously worked at one of Essex’s top performing private schools. I really love tutoring and have a friendly, patient and encouraging approach, always striving to get the very best results for my students. It’s a real privilege to see them reach their goals and potential.
In my opinion one-to-one support is the quickest route to improvement. My most pleasing feedback has been that I help to boost my students’ confidence in English- bringing back enjoyment and a love for the subject again.
I believe everyone deserves a great education and should enjoy learning, but sometimes we all need a little extra help to overcome hurdles and achieve our best. I will work flexibly around you for as many or few sessions as you like, devising a plan with benchmarks for success.
Tuition from just £45.00 per session.
In addition to regular bookings, I offer single and short block bookings to master those tricky topics or for coursework/essay support.
Specialising in both English and study skills, I offer tailored and supportive tuition for KS3, GCSE, A Level/FE students. Furthermore, I can offer assistance with: coursework/assignment planning, general proofreading, preparing/ coaching for interviews and public speaking.
I tutor a range of age groups and abilities – from those struggling to access concepts in their first year at secondary school, to Oxbridge candidates looking to boost their analytical skills. I am also able to troubleshoot where students may need to improve their study skills in order to see better results and engagement overall.
With additional qualifications in mental health and psychology, I have a holistic approach, taking in to consideration learning needs and styles to create a tailored plan of support totally dedicated to each individual student. I can’t underestimate the power of tuition in boosting learners’ confidence and self-esteem.

Whether you need help revising punctuation or understanding the themes of a Shakespeare play, I will devise carefully tailored lessons to meet your requirements.
